Important actions deserve more than whatever mood happens to be driving you. Marcus uses the language of craft: act by principles, not by random impulse. A good surgeon follows a method. A good pilot uses a checklist. A good friend, manager, parent, or citizen also needs standards that hold when they are tired, flattered, afraid, or angry. This does not mean becoming rigid or robotic. It means developing reliable habits for the decisions that shape your life: verify before sharing, pause before replying, prepare before committing, listen before judging. You already use systems for work that matters to you. Bring that same care to your character. Today, identify one situation where you usually wing it, and give yourself a simple rule for handling it well.
