These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the School of Socrates iOS app and related services at schoolofstoics.app (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
School of Socrates provides educational and reflective tools inspired by Stoic philosophy, including journaling, lessons, meditations, and an AI-assisted mentor conversation experience. The Service is for personal growth and education. It is not medical, psychological, legal, or emergency advice, and is not a substitute for a licensed professional.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the Service. If you use Sign in with Apple or create an account, you are responsible for keeping access to your account secure.
3. Accounts
You may use the Service with a device-based account and/or Sign in with Apple. You can delete your account in the app Settings. Deletion removes your server-side account data as described in our Privacy Policy. Active App Store subscriptions are not cancelled by account deletion; you must manage those in iOS Settings.
4. Subscriptions and billing
- Some features require an auto-renewing subscription purchased through Apple In-App Purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription where applicable.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s refund policies.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Misuse the Service, attempt to bypass subscription or security controls, or disrupt our systems.
- Use the Service to generate or distribute unlawful, abusive, or harmful content.
- Scrape, overload, or reverse engineer the Service except where allowed by law.
- Use AI mentor features as a crisis service or for medical diagnosis or treatment.
If you are in crisis or need urgent help, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional.
6. Your content
You retain rights to content you create. You grant us a limited license to host, process, and use that content solely to provide and improve the Service (including generating mentor replies). You are responsible for the content you submit.
7. Intellectual property
The app, branding, lesson and meditation materials, and software are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you ownership of the Service.
8. AI features
Mentor replies are generated with AI and may be inaccurate or incomplete. Use your judgment. Do not rely on the Service as sole guidance for important decisions.
9. Disclaimer
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (OR, IF GREATER, THE MINIMUM AMOUNT REQUIRED BY LAW).
11. Changes
We may update the Service and these Terms. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and cancel any subscription.
